Silk-screened merchandise for 13th Red Dawns Fest

.
On February 28th, the Red Dawns team met with this years' festival visuals designer Ana Baraga and silk-screen mistress Urška at the MetaTisk silk-screening studio at ACC Metelkova. We printed the new posters and bags as well as second hand T-shirts, kitchen cloths, skirts, underwear etc., all of which we receive from you in response to our call for contributions.

All the merchandise - and a new series of badges - are going to be available for sale during the festival at the Infopoint in SOT-24,5 Club and during major festival events in other Metelkova venues.

Below, there are some photos from the printing session. More printing and merchandise photos can be seen on Ana Baraga's blog.

Zbiralna akcija za 13. festival Rdeče zore

Drage punce in ženske (in tudi nekaj fantov)

(zdaj pa zares)

za RDEČE ZORE

13. feministični in queerovski festival, ki bo od 7. - 10. marca na Metelkovi.

Poleg plakatov in weba - bomo naredile tudi promo in darilni material.

Ker je festival zaenkrat skoraj no-budget

in ker smo raje ekološko in antikonzumeristično naravnane

Neuporabljene zvezke
bolje z enobarvnimi platnicami a ni nujno

Kuhinjske krpe, predpasnike
kakršnekoli, starejše in bolj trapaste tem boljše

11.00 - 15.00 in 16.00 - 20.00
Petek: 15.00 - 23.00

ali, če vam je lažje,

v baru BI-KO-FE na šanku

Stvari prosim prinesite med 15. in 25. februarjem.

Najlepša hvala in lep pozdrav vsem!

Performativno predavanje Emily Schwarzwald: 'Ko se igramo: queerovski BDSM'

Rdeče zore vabimo na

performativno predavanje
Emily Schwarzwald: Ko se igramo: queerovski BDSM*
(English version below)

Emily Schwarzwald bo predstavila izbor lepih, močnih in občasno zabavnih (javnih) izrazov queerovske, lezbične, ženske in trans SM kulture iz zadnjih tridesetih let. Ker jo zanimajo tudi sodobni življenjski slogi, stili oblačenja in spolne prakse v BDSM skupnostih, bo predstavila izsledke svoje raziskave, v kateri je fotografirala in intervjuvala današnje članice in člane skupnosti. Spraševala jih je, kako spol in spolnost vplivata na njihov BDSM stil, katere BDSM sloge imajo najraje in ali njihova razredna pripadnost vpliva na njihove BDSM persone, stile in sceno.

Sobota, 21. januar 2012 ob 19.30, Klub Tiffany, ŠKUC-Kulturni center Q, AKC Metelkova mesto, Ljubljana

Brezplačno.

*Umetnica kratico »BDSM« uporablja kot zbirni pojem za vrsto sporazumnih razmerij, ki vključujejo vezanje, discipliniranje, dominanco, podreditev, mazohizem in nekatere fetišizme. Izraz »queerovska, lezbična, ženska in trans BDSM kultura« ali krajše »queerovski BDSM« zajame posebnosti lezbičnih in queerovskih BDSM slogov v lezbično-feminističnih kontekstih poznih sedemdesetih, osemdesetih in devetdesetih let 20. stoletja.

Red Dawns present

a lecture performance by
Emily Schwarzwald
: When We Play: Queer BDSM*

After showing beautiful, strong and occasionally funny examples of (public) expressions of QueerLesbianWomenTrans SM culture of the last thirty years, Emily Schwarzwald is going to present her interviews with current community members, accompanied with selected images of their personal styles. The interviewees were asked how is gender or sexuality reflected in their 'outer' BDSM style, what are their favourite BDSM styles and whether or not their social realities (class affiliation) affect their BDSM personas, styles and scene.

Saturday, January 21st 2012 at 19.30 in Tiffany Club, ŠKUC-Cultural Center Q, Metelkova mesto, Ljubljana

No entrance fee.

*The acronym “BDSM” is used as an umbrella term for consensual Bondage and/or Discipline and/or Dominance and/or Submission and/or Masochism, including certain fetishisms. The term “QueerLesbianWomanTrans BDSM subculture” (or in short “queer BDSM”) allows us to capture the specificity of lesbian-centered and queer BDSM in feminist-lesbian contexts of the late 1970's, 1980's and 1990's.

Emily Schwarzwald is an artist, interested in sex politics and cultures, BDSM, fashion and performance as a daily practice and art form. She PhD dissertation in law focused on pornography and criminal law in the US, Germany and Austria. She has worked as a designer and dressmaker, managing director of the Viennese community radio Orange 94.0 and as a counsellor in a women's info centre, dedicated to relationship issues, (sexual) violence and psychiatric experience. She has written and lectured on polyamory, queer(ing) BDSM lifestyles and the legal dimensions of BDSM practices at events such as the Extra/Ordinary Dresscode. Costuming and the Second Skin in Asia conference in Hong Kong (2009) and the International Women's BDSM Conference Berlin (2010). She lives and works in Vienna.

Welcome!

P.s. For those of you who have been asking whom or what do we mean by "trash" in the title of the party - and what does it refer to in terms of the dress code. Here's a possible answer from Virginie Despentes' book King Kong Theory:
“... the weirdos, the ones who shave their heads, those who don’t know how to dress, those who worry that they stink, those who have rotten teeth, those who don’t know how to go about things, are never given presents by men, those who will fuck anyone who’ll have them, the fat tarts, the skinny sluts, those whose cunts are always dry, those who have big bellies, those who would rather be men, those who behave as if they were men, those who think they’re porn queens, who don’t give a damn about guys but are interested in their girlfriends, the ones with big arses and thick, dark body hair they don’t wax, brutish, noisy women, who destroy everything that gets in their way, those who don’t like perfume shops, whose red lipstick is too red, who haven’t got the figure to dress like hookers and yet desperately want to, women who want to wear men’s clothes and a beard in the street, those who want to show it all, those whose shyness is due to their hang-ups, those who don’t know how to say no, those who are locked up in order to be controlled, women who are scary, pitiful ones, women who don’t turn men on, those with flabby skin and a face full of wrinkles, those who dream of plastic surgery, of liposuction, of having their nose broken so it can be reset but can’t afford it, women who look like the back of a bus, those who can rely only on themselves for protection, who don’t know how to comfort others, who couldn’t care less about their kids, women who don’t behave; and men who don’t want to protect, men who would like to be protective but don’t know how to start, men who don’t know how to fight, those who cry easily, those who aren’t ambitious, competitive, well-hung or aggressive, men who are fearful, timid, vulnerable, men who prefer looking after their home to going out to work, men who are fragile, bald, too poor to be attractive, men who’d like to be fucked, men who don’t want to be counted on, men who are scared to be alone at night.”

We are going to start reviewing the program submissions on Thursday, December 20th 2011. Everyone can expect an answer soon although we ask your patience as the number of submissions exceeded our expectations and capabilities yet again! As Helena's cute worker says: How much (excellent) queer work!
